An estimated 43,900 deaths are predicted to occur this winter period in England and Wales, which will be the highest since 1999.
The flu virus is mostly to blame, experts say, along with an Influenza vaccine that is less effective than years before. Also the figures published by the office for National Statistics show there will be more deaths in women than men.
Reports also say most deaths caused by the winter months occur with people over 75 years old, due to the elderly not being able to afford to heat their houses up.
This year, could be an extension of last year’s stats with the straining of flu circling and putting a lot of elderly people at risk as we are in store for another cold winter.
